Welcome to Prose City, your literary sanctuary in Portland, Oregon. Founded by two Portlanders who hold a deep appreciation for all things reading and writing, our community is a vibrant tapestry of diverse voices and stories.

At Prose City, we’re not just about events; we’re committed to creating an inclusive and approachable literary community. We understand the importance of affordability in fostering a diverse community, so we prioritize finding and featuring events that are free or low-cost, and offer a sliding scale where possible.

We’ve got an array of activities lined up – from spirited book clubs that delve deep into the narratives and nuance, to writing workshops that nurture your unique voice and creativity. Whether you’re a seasoned writer, an avid reader, or someone just dipping your toes into the literary world, there’s a place for you here.

Our community thrives on collaboration. We produce and host our own events, and we’re always excited to partner with other literary enthusiasts, as well—individuals, organizations, literary groups, bookshops, schools… We believe that every partnership brings new energy and fresh perspectives to our growing community.
